One In Song

Los Robles Master Chorale Teams with Multigenerational Voices for One in Song

Los Robles Master Chorale begins the second half of its 2013-2014 season with One in Song, a concert of choral masterworks that will welcome the collaborative talents of Los Robles Children’s Choir, as well as the voices of the La Sierra University Chamber Singers. One in Song, under the direction of Lesley Leighton, will be performed on Sunday, March 9, at 4:00 PM at Ascension Lutheran Church in Thousand Oaks.

The concert’s title, One in Song, underscores the wide range of ages, spanning eight decades, in the collaborating choirs—from the forty-eight singer of LRCC’s Amadeus Choir, ranging in age from 11 to 17, to the college-aged singers from La Sierra, to the veteran singers of the Master Chorale. This celebration of the power of the human spirit through song will feature two dramatically different interpolations of the traditional mass. êkō, the chorale’s 40-voice chamber choir, will perform Gabriel Fauré’s time-honored Requiem in D minor, with soprano and baritone soloists and organ. The children’s choir and college singers will join forces with the full chorale, soprano and baritone soloists, and organ for John Rutter’s Mass of the Children. The soloists for both works will be drawn from each of the choirs. Renowned organist Linda Fern Fay will accompany the two masterworks.

Lesley Leighton will also conduct the Chamber Singers from La Sierra University, where she is Interim Director of Choral Activities, in a number of choral selections. Edward and Dana Rouse are Artistic Director and Executive Director, respectively, of Los Robles Children’s Choir, which has enjoyed a close collaborative relationship with the Master Chorale since its founding seventeen years ago.

One in Song will be performed Sunday, March 9, at 4:00 PM at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1600 E. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks. Tickets are $25 adult, $15 student. A special Family Package admits two adults and two children ages 12 and under for $50. For additional information or to purchase tickets, visit or call 805/526-SING (7464).
